These
N/TT/HO/OO units are
designed to give constant
speed running on
gradients, around curves
and through complex
pointwork. Suitable for
all types of motor except
coreless (e.g. Portescap
range).
The
feedback principle relies
on the fact that a loco
motor produces a “back
EMF” (electromotive
force). This is a voltage
generated IN OPPOSITION to
the applied motor voltage.
It varies in direct
proportion to the motor
speed. So, when changes in
motor speed occur, caused
by the loco climbing a
gradient, for example, the
EMF changes slightly, and
the controller senses this
and the controller output
is then adjusted
automatically, to maintain
the correct speed.
